3rd Guru of Sikhs. Guru Amar Das Ji was born in 1479. Guru's Parents were Bhai Tej Bhan Ji and Mata Lachmi Ji. Guru's Wife: Mata Mansa Devi Ji. Sons : Baba Mohan Ji and Baba Mohri Ji and Daughters : Bibi Dani Ji and Bibi Bhani Ji. Guru Ji contributed the following to the world. All visitors to Gurudwara were to first take "Langar" together before seeing the Guru ji. "First Pangat then Sangat". Guru Ji abolished the "Caste System". Guru Ji lifted the status of women and gave them equality to men. Guru Ji strictly prohibited the practice of "Sati" (the dying of the wife on her husband's funeral) and "Parrda" (veil to cover the face). Guru ji advocated "re-marrying" of widows. Established the city of "Goindwal".
